More news to come on that front. For me, one of the most enjoyable aspects of being a songwriter is collaborating with other musicians. The moment you first hear a song come to life in ways you never imagined . . . it’s unforgettable. I’m so excited for what’s to come.
✨
Side note: This morning I attended a livestream of “Wavemakers - Women In Music 40+ Music Industry Panel” in Austin, TX. While women continue to be a minority in the music industry, and ageism is an undeniable factor, I’m sooo inspired to see women and mothers pursuing their calling and serving as role models. Personally, I still have a lot to sing and write about, and I dare say some of my best songwriting is yet to come. It may not be easy, but ya gotta do what you love.
Leanne Wilkins & the Weatheredtag:theweatheredband.com,2005:Post/71615712023-02-02T11:00:00-08:002023-02-27T10:55:08-08:00A gal with a plan

It's been almost seven years since our last record Ordinary Grey was released. Every time I've gone into a studio, I've learned and grown in immeasurable ways. This year, I'm approaching my work a lot more strategically. It's not exactly rock ‘n’ roll, but I have always been a gal with a plan. Similar to when I travel, I like to have a vision for where I want to go and what I want to experience. But within that framework, there's wiggle room for the unexpected. Following the organic flow of creativity and experimentation into the unknown is where the magic happens.
Leanne Wilkins & the Weatheredtag:theweatheredband.com,2005:Post/70673772022-05-27T14:00:00-07:002022-09-23T14:02:53-07:00New music in the works!

Big news. I'm writing some new songs! It's been several years since I've written any new material, and let's just say the floodgates have opened. Follow @lwtheweathered on Instagram if you're interested in learning about my songwriting process and previewing my work. I look forward to sharing new music in the coming months!
Leanne Wilkins & the Weatheredtag:theweatheredband.com,2005:Post/70673452022-04-03T13:00:00-07:002022-09-23T14:02:08-07:00Pandemic vibes

Who knew that January 2020 would be our last show? In the wake of a global pandemic + becoming a mama, life still feels a bit surreal. It’s heartening to see music venues reopening & bands re-emerging.

I formed The Weathered with Derek, Michael & Travis in 2013. Man, I’m grateful for the music we made, the shows, the laughs. I’m grateful to our friends & fans who came along for the ride.

This chapter may have ended, but I’ve still got music in my bones. Time will tell what’s next.
Leanne Wilkins & the Weatheredtag:theweatheredband.com,2005:Post/49875032016-04-27T00:15:00-07:002022-09-23T14:02:53-07:00Northwest Indie Music record review
Leanne Wilkins & the Weathered unleashes new musical landscape

By ANDREW FICKES
Northwest Indie Music

A first-listen to Leanne Wilkins & the Weathered’s EP Ordinary Grey will have you thinking that maybe the quintet should be called Leanne Wilkins & the Polished.

Wilkins returns following her 2008 debut album Waterwheel with a formidable, seasoned band. Every note, every beat, is exact and uncompromised. Guitars and drums are high in the mix, making for an attention-grabbing live-sounding record. Wilkins has never sounded better in her vocals and her prowess as a wordsmith is on full display.

Opening track “Battlefield” is alive with imagery. Wilkins sings: Shots rang out from overhead/Fire spewing from their mouths/Embers lit the midnight sky/Arrows pierced their bleeding hearts. “Turn It Down,” the centerpiece of the record, describes the messy ending of a relationship and the woman at the center of it all, livid at the man who did her wrong. “Charades” has the breezy folk sound reminiscent of Wilkins’ earlier work.

And the fourth and final track features a dynamic blues rock version of “Earth Meets Sky,” previously released on Waterwheel. Whether you like Wilkins as a folky troubadour or a raucous rocker with an electric guitar, there is something for everyone on this record. It’s a welcome return for Wilkins. Hopefully, the wait won’t be long for the Weathered’s first full-length studio album. Ordinary Grey is a harbinger of great things to come.
Leanne Wilkins & the Weatheredtag:theweatheredband.com,2005:Post/50004232016-04-26T16:20:00-07:002022-09-23T14:02:28-07:00New EP available April 30!
